Great MasterbrewI used this Masterbrew as part of an extract brew back in June 2004.I used 1 can 1.5kg LME - Goliath#3 kit muscle(750gms DME,250gms Dextrose)-35gms Target for bittering(1/2 hour boil) and Finished with the Goliath IPA masterbrew(last 10 mins of boil). Wyeast 1028 London ale yeast. All that for a 25lt batch.I thought it was a great beer and on Dave's(Goliath Owner) recommendation I entered it in the State Ameteur Brewing Championships of SA.It took a bronze medal.Simple IPA that tastes wicked! |

Easy for an IPAIPA's should be BIG, BOLD and BITTER. This finishes things off nicely, but make the right start. A good amount of grain makes it less than simple to handle, but it yields good results. Good colour, nice Goldings aroma. Personally, I think you need to do it properly and give it a big base, and no kit on the market, not even the kit IPA's come close. If you can, get a can of extract and run it up to 40 IBU's with Target or Goldings, Wyeast 1028 and you'll have a great IPA with this to finish. |
