Cascade Spicy Ghost Draught | May 29th 2005
Good base for Golden AleUsed it with Wyeast 1007 + 1kg extra pale LME + 0.7kg dextrose. Primary at 70F for 8 days. Lagering at 45F. Added finings before bottling. Clear pale golden colour with big lasting white head. Plenty of body yet crisp. Subdued hop aroma is accentuated by yeast-generated fruity esters. Light malt sweetness with slightly bitter finish. All in all, very quaffable but not without character. Judging from other reviews, this kit probably needs good yeast to make it show its characters. |

Tooheys Lager | April 12th 2005
Tooheys LagerKit yeast was yeasted. No airlock activity. Spraymalt was used instead of sugar. Colour is light copper with chill haze. Distinctly malty aroma at 3 weeks. Malt aroma is rather faint at 5 weeks. Mountfeel is light as only 1kg of Spraymalt was used. Flavour is crisp and dry without trace of hop, butterscotch or fruit. Primed with 4/5 cup of cane sugar, it has a bit too much carbonic bite. Overall, it is not one to be brewed again. |
